Acupuncture and Dry Needling

Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and there is a wealth of data about its effectiveness in Chinese medical journals and American medical journals are developing databases.

Dry Needling is also known as ashi needling and trigger point needling and can not only affect local conditions but those in meridians as well.

Prior to treating you with acupuncture, Dr. Lucas does a thorough pulse diagnosis. A proper evaluation of your pulses, where Practitioners of Chinese medicine discover energetic imbalances, is the key to effective treatment. This is her specialty, to see where your imbalances, blocks, excesses, etc. are and to resolve them to create a healthful situation in your body. The treatment plan is to find the cause of your condition or symptoms and resolve that rather than just treating symptoms which is almost always just a temporary quick fix.

Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture

Mei Zen means "beautiful person." Dr. Lucas offers a cosmetic technique based in Chinese medicine that addresses the internal and external causes of aging. During a cosmetic acupuncture treatment, Dr. Lucas does her usual expert pulse diagnosis to see where the imbalances are that may be impacting your ability to age well and be the healthiest that you can be. Then she needles the skin on the face, neck, and/or abdomen for the cosmetic results.

Injection Therapy and LLT (Laser Light Therapy aka Cold Laser Therapy)

Vitamin B-12 is an important source of energy. A B-12 deficiency can cause memory issues, depression, fatigue, and constipation. Proper levels can boost your energy, help reduce your appetite, and create a better digestive situation.

What is the quickest, most effective way to correct a Vitamin B12 deficiency?
A vitamin/nutrient IV or Vitamin B-12 injection is best. Vitamin B-12 is not absorbed by the stomach therefore the entire dosage is available to the body for use when given in the form of an injection.

Often referred to as Lipo-injections, these injections are used to help release fat throughout the body by specifically targeting primary fatty deposits. Vitamin B-12 combined with the essential amino acids Methionine, Inositol and Choline (MIC) and L-Carnitine facilitate the use of food for energy and the breakdown of fat, aid in digestion and elimination, and boost energy.

Referred to as Trigger Point Injection Therapy or Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, its purpose is to eliminate pain and to re-educate your muscles into pain-free motions. Injections using a combination of Traumeel, Procaine and Saline help reduce the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain, increase range of motion, relieve tension, and improve circulation, flexibility and coordination.

Laser Light Therapy or Cold Laser Treatment

Cold laser therapy is used primarily to treat pain but has other uses as well for example in the world of cosmetic treatment (by improving cell, perhaps collagen, growth). Cold laser therapy is safe, effective, and completely noninvasive. Also known as low level laser therapy, the cold laser has the ability to penetrate the skin to assist healing even in deep joint problems.

Cold laser increases metabolic activity, has anti-inflammatory action, increases vascular activity, reduces fibrous tissue formation, and stimulates nerve function. I treat muscle and joint pain, arthritis stiffness and pain, carpal tunnel and other hand or wrist pain, neck and lower back pain, and more. Treatment does not take very long (usually appointments are no longer than 30 minutes) and several treatments a week are needed for healing.

Chinese Herbal Prescriptions

Natural herbs have been used for centuries to treat a wide variety of symptoms and diseases. The herbal formulas that Dr. Lucas uses are safe and effective when prescribed by a licensed Practitioner of Chinese medicine.

Manual Therapy

Although Acupuncture and herbs are the most well known therapies used by Chinese medicine practitioners, Dr. Lucas also offers Manual Therapy techniques or Chinese Medical Massage. One of those is called gua sha. She puts some warming liniment on the skin and then uses a smooth edged tool (a gua sha "comb") to slide it along the affected area of the skin. It is very very useful for pain and feels good.

Both acute and chronic pain are treated successfully with gua sha but it is also used to treat other conditions like chest colds, sprains, post surgical stagnation, etc.

Microneedling Collagen Stimulation

Microneedling is also called Collagen Induction Therapy and is used as a treatment to reduce lines and wrinkles. The skin is rejuvenated by needling into skin where the rejuvenation factors are abundant using an instrument that is called a dermapen. Microneedling is the skin rejuvenation treatment that has the opportunity to stimulate keratinocytes, melanocytes, and fibroblasts of collagen and elastin.

Oxidation Restoration Therapy aka Activated Oxygen Therapy and Ozone Therapy

Activated Oxygen, also know as ozone ()3) is created naturally in our atmosphere when the Earth’s oxygen meets the sun’s rays. Ozone contains three oxygen atoms rather than the two that we usually breathe. That 3rd atom becomes a scavenger destroying viruses, bacteria, free radicals, etc. Medical Activated Oxygen (what I use in my practice) is used to treat skin issues (topically) Treat pain both topically and with injection therapy Oxygenate your blood, make it healthier through insufflation Kill infections through insufflation, topically, or through ozonated water.
